Flavious Smith | Executive Vice President- Minerals
Flavious leads Forestar’s Minerals Resources segment as our Executive Vice President - Minerals. Prior to joining Forestar, he served as Division Land Manager for EOG Resources, Inc. overseeing EOG’s land activities in the Appalachian Basin from 2005 through 2007 and in the Barnett Shale from 2007 through 2008. Flavious has significant experience in tight gas reservoirs and unconventional shale resource plays, including horizontal drilling and multi-stage fracing technologies. While at EOG, Flavious negotiated and closed a 1 million acre joint venture in the Marcellus Shale in Pennsylvania and several large joint ventures in the Barnett Shale, growing EOG’s acreage base and adding hundreds of drilling locations.
Prior to joining EOG, Flavious owned and operated Flavious Smith Petroleum Properties from 1989 to 2005. Flavious Smith Petroleum Properties was an operator in Texas and had numerous working interests and royalty interests in the Southwestern United States and Rocky Mountains. Flavious has previously held leadership positions with Snyder Oil Company and Southwestern Energy Company.
Flavious has over 25 years of exploration and production experience focused on business development, operations, production, acquisitions, and joint ventures. He has experience in the Appalachian, Anadarko, Arkoma, D-J, East Texas, Fort Worth, Green River, Gulf Coast, Permian, Powder River, Wind River, and Williston Basins, including specific expertise in the Barnett and Marcellus resources plays.
Flavious received his Bachelor and Masters degrees from Vanderbilt University, and his Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University School of Law.
Peter Dallas | Vice President- Engineering
Peter serves as Vice President of Engineering. Peter has over 30 years of experience in the exploration and production business as well as experience in gas processing, refining and marketing, coal, geothermal, manufactured utilities and electricity generation. Peter has oil and gas experience in almost all areas of the United States and in almost all countries around the world. Peter has held positions in the oil, gas, and energy business in the capacities of reservoir engineering, strategic planning, project economics, investor relations, acquisitions, divestitures, energy management, marketing, contract negotiations, and petroleum and financial consulting with large independent oil and gas corporations, as well as an independent proprietor.
Peter earned a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A & M University in College Station, Texas and a Masters of Business Administraion in Finance and Accounting from Regis University in Denver, Colorado.
Rick Dollins | Vice President- Land
Rick serves as Vice President of Land. He was the Land Manager and Land Advisor for the Western Division of EOG Resources in Fort Worth from 2006 to August 2008.
Rick, a certified professional landman, has over 30 years experience in the oil and gas industry, focused on business development, acquisition and divestitures and joint ventures. He has previous experience managing minerals for Cockrell Oil and Gas and Burlington Resources (The Louisiana Land and Exploration Company). He has experience in all areas of Texas, Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico.
Rick received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin in 1979.
Allyn Fincher | Geologist
Allyn joined Forestar in February 2009 as a Geologist. He is responsible for analyzing regional and subregional production and subsurface structures which aid in the evaluation of third party well proposals. Before joining Forestar, he was with EOG Resources. He has worked Barnett Shale, Fayetteville Shale, Delaware Basin and Sooner Trend plays.
Allyn has a Bachelor of Science degree in geology from the University of Texas at Arlington where he was a University Scholar and received the Mineralogy Award. He also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Texas Wesleyan College in Fort Worth, Texas.
